In the third round of the FA Cup, the Red Devils narrowly defeated the Toffees, but the Spaniard caused a significant speed bump along the way. Neal Maupay's cutback was awkwardly attempted to be blocked by De Gea using his legs, but the ball bounced off both of them and popped out in front of the goal. Conor Coady only needed to thump the ball home to get Everton to within one.
De Gea signed a four-year contract in 2019 that would pay him a staggering £ 375,000 per week.
This summer, De Gea's current contract ends, and the Red Devils have decided to extend him.
De Gea is allegedly open to taking a wage cut in order to stay in Manchester.
De Gea responded when asked if he wanted to finish his career at Old Trafford: “I hope so. I was saying this is my club, I've been here many, many years and it's a huge honour to be here and I'm so happy here.
“Yeah, I'm very relaxed [about the contract], just focussed on training, performing as best as I can. But, for sure, it's going to end in a good way.”
