FIFA is going to punish Argentina's goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for his rude Golden Glove gesture following the World Cup final.

After Argentina's penalty-kick victory over France in the 2022 World Cup final, FIFA has announced that it will launch an investigation into the team's actions.

The international governing body has "opened proceedings" against the Albiceleste for potentially violating fair play and player misconduct clauses of the FIFA disciplinary code during and after the main event.

As Argentina won their third title, videos of the team's celebrations quickly went viral, and skeptics objected to pictures of Martinez receiving the Golden Glove.

Despite the fact that PSG star Kylian Mbappe scored a hat trick and converted a spot kick in the shootout, the Aston Villa goalkeeper was also seen making fun of the defeated forward.

He also called for a moment of silence in the locker room after the game to remember Mbappe's passing. He was also seen holding a toy baby with the striker's face on it.

Referee Szymon Marciniak issued yellow cards to five Argentina players. Martinez received a caution during the shootout, when he was seen dancing after French misses and throwing the ball away before penalties.

The Argentina Football Association could be hit with a significant fine if the Albiceleste agree to any charges brought against them.
