When Chelsea announced the acquisition of Marc Cucurella last summer, the supporters were ecstatic.
The 2021 player from the Barcelona Academy was one of the most crucial players for Brighton last season.
Marc Cucurella even took up the club's award for best player of the year. His performance for the Seagulls attracted the interest of several clubs in Europe in which Chelsea emerged the winner of the transfer deal.
It appeared to be a reasonable deal at £55M considering how much Man City was also interested in the player. He might be a strong rival for Chilwell and fill in at left back if Chilwell is often injured.
A few months later, Cucurella hasn't won over the majority of Chelsea supporters, and some are already doubting the club's choice to purchase him.
The defender has been having trouble adjusting to Graham Potter, his manager at Brighton.
Graham Potter recently made known what went wrong with Cucurella's performance. He claims that the footballer has been having some family issues.
Potter said: "I think it's been challenging for Marc. He's had some things off the pitch family wise that have been difficult for him as well. There are all sorts of things going on in a player's life."
