The Switzerland international was seen speaking to his team mates during their warm up before Tottenham Hotspur kick off.

The actions of Granit Xhaka during the warm-up before Sunday's victory over Tottenham Hotspur are captured in a video that was released on Twitter.

The weekend saw Mikel Arteta's team put on a remarkable performance in north London as they defeated their biggest rivals.

Hugo Lloris' own goal and Martin Odegaard's long-range wonder strike gave Arsenal a 2-0 lead right before halftime after an impressive first half effort.

During the first 45 minutes, the Gunners thoroughly outperformed their opponents from north London and looked ready for the big game.

This may be in part due to their former captain, Xhaka, who was seen motivating his Arsenal colleagues before the match.

In the footage that was shared on Twitter, the starting lineup for Arsenal is seen circling one another and stretching before the match.

Xhaka may be seen yelling at his comrades and giving a lecture to get them ready for a major confrontation.

The 30-year-old repeatedly claps his hands together as he motivates the Arsenal team in advance of the north London derby.

Xhaka has been in excellent form for the Gunners this season and Arteta has entirely changed the way he plays.

After an outburst directed at the crowd a few years ago, the Switzerland international was demoted from his position as Arsenal captain. But a little change in his position in midfield has helped him regain his status as a fan favorite.

The fact that Xhaka was preparing his teammates for such a crucial match will delight Arsenal supporters, and it undoubtedly helped as they had an excellent start to the game.

Meanwhile, The Gunners are currently sitting eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta side will host fourth placed Manchester United over the weekend in their next fixture.
