Mikel Arteta acknowledged that Jesus is still very upbeat and pushing and inspiring his teammates at Arsenal.
The 25-year-old need surgery after suffering a major knee injury at the World Cup.
Arteta has resisted giving any sort of return date information.
He will be hoping that Jesus is fully healthy again before the season is over.
Even though a victory today would ensure Arsenal a trip to Manchester City in the following round of the FA Cup, they will instead go to Oxford United.
Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta says that injured Gabriel Jesus is one of strong players in the dressing room.
Speaking ahead of the match about the forward, Arteta said: “He is always around the place with a smile on his face, but he’s been really demanding, giving advice and protecting each other.
“He’s been leading with the team. That’s sometimes rare and difficult as well, especially for someone who has been for such a short time at the club.
“But he really has an impact, and we need that because they really follow him and listen to him and he’s a really likeable figure in the dressing room.”
Jesus may have been comforting his teammates after a disappointing outcome in the locker room following Arsenal's draw with Newcastle.
Jesus has already taken Eddie Nketiah under his wing and is unmistakably encouraging his Arsenal teammate to get better without him.
Arteta will be thrilled to see how committed the 25-year-old is to the cause of Arsenal even when he is unable to play.
But his manager will be anxious for Jesus to go back to 100% as soon as possible.
The 25-year-old Brazilian is currently recovering from a knee injury he sustained while participating at the World Cup in Qatar.
