Jose Mourinho, the coach of AS Roma, has said that Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League prevented him from acquiring Kim Min-jae, a defender for Napoli.
Mourinho led Tottenham as their coach from 2019 until 2021 before departing London for Roma.
He claims that while Min-jae was playing for Fenerbahçe, Tottenham did not support him in trying to sign him.
The former manager of Chelsea and Manchester United also praised Min-jae as a high performer.
This occurred prior to Roma's 2-1 Serie A loss to Napoli on Sunday evening.
“I wanted to sign Kim Min-jae when I was at Tottenham. I had some FaceTime calls with him — our bid was €5m, Fenerbahçe wanted €10m for Kim and for Tottenham that wasn’t possible at that point,” Mourinho was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying.
“Now look at Kim and his level, he’s a top player.”
