Leandro Trossard appears to be moving from Brighton to Arsenal in the north after his present employers reached an agreement with the Premier League's top team on Thursday.
After a disagreement with manager Roberto De Zerbi last month, who barred him from training due to his behavior, the Belgian appeared destined to depart Brighton.
At one point, it appeared likely that he would join former manager Graham Potter at Chelsea after the Gunners signed Mykhailo Mudryk. However, after Potter and the Ukrainian were signed, Trossard is now expected to move to the Emirates.
Personal conditions and a cost of about £27 million have been agreed upon, therefore he will soon be choosing his squad number with the Gunners.
Trossard won't be allowed to maintain the number 11 jersey he wore for Brighton because Gabriel Martinelli, who will likely be his understudy, will wear it instead.
He is also unable to wear the number 17 because Cedric Soares is currently wearing it. However, Cedric Soares may be leaving the Emirates for Fulham, the Premier League's surprise package.
If not, he will have a choice between the numbers 2, 13, 15, 26, 28, 29 and 30.
The first two may be safely ruled out. Given that goalkeepers at Arsenal have been assigned the number 13 since 2008 and that defenders often wear the number two, it is most probable that the number 15 will be selected.
