Despite having Scott McTominay in the middle of the field, Manchester United star Paul Scholes believes his team cannot upset Arsenal in Sunday's critical Premier League match.

When Casemiro was banned for their midweek 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, McTominay was included in Erik ten Hag's starting lineup to fill his spot.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has undoubtedly been Manchester United's greatest player this year, making a significant impact on Ten Hag's rise to the Champions League spot in the Premier League standings.

Brazil international McTominay cannot be replaced, according to Scholes, who won several awards while playing midfield for Manchester United.

“Without Casemiro it looks like two or three players are missing today. He brought in McTominay who hasn’t played a lot of football and the last Premier League game he started was a defeat.

“I’m really worried about our midfield area against Arsenal. You look at McTominay and Eriksen possibly against four players the likes of Xhaka, Partey Odegaard has been fantastic with Zinchenko dropping into the midfield.

“I don’t see how this team will stop Arsenal. Casemiro is very experienced. A player that plays his position really really well. He’s always in the right place and senses danger."

Arsenal recorded 3-2 win over Manchester United at the Emirates stadium on Sunday to open five points gap at top of EPL.

It was Erik Den Hag side that took the lead from Marcus Rashford shot but Eddie Nketiah header made it 1-1.

Araenal who were the better team made it 2-1 in the second half after Bukayo Saka left foot strike from the edge of the box.

But Aaron Ramsdale error after he spilled Eriksen corner which allowed Lisandro Martinez to head the ball into the net.

Eddie Nketiah grabbed his brace in the 90th-minute scoring the winner for Mikel Arteta side.

Scholes added: “McTominay is a very good player. But don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’s got the same game awareness as Casemiro. Casemiro knows exactly what to do.”
