During an interview, Marc Cucurella, a defender for Chelsea, had to be informed that Jorginho had joined Arsenal.
Since the start of the season, the Italian and the Spaniard have played together. However, the Gunners have been successful in acquiring the master of the midfield in one of the more unexpected moves of the January transfer window.
Jorginho has already been spotted in an Arsenal shirt and conducting interviews in a Gunners tracksuit, despite the fact that the Premier League leaders have not yet made an official announcement about it. However, the news had not yet reached the left rear.
Cucurella responded right away when GOAL asked him who he thought Chelsea's most intelligent player was: “the smartest player in the squad is Jorginho, 100%."
Cucurella looked confused when he was informed that the former Napoli playmaker had signed with Mikel Arteta's team.
“No?” a flummoxed and slightly devastated looking Cucurella quickly replied.
Cucurella was then asked to modify his response due to Jorginho's absence from Stamford Bridge. However, the defender appeared to be still processing the information.
“No? But it’s now,” he protested.
“After saying, “I read yesterday” he was sharply interrupted by the interviewer who informed him, “there are photos of him [wearing a shirt]”. Cucurella then said “no” before laughing to himself.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have already completed the signing of Jorginho from Chelsea for fee in region of 12m.
Arsenal recently acquired Chelsea midfielder Jorginho on a contract valid until 2024 with an extension for another year.
In a deal worth £10 million plus an additional $2 million, Jorginho signs with Arsenal as a midfielder.
