After Thibaut Courtois saved a key penalty to win the final position, Real Madrid will play either Barcelona or Real Betis in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday.

Karim Benzema's first-half penalty kick gave Real Madrid a deserving lead. He provoked Comert into a clumsy challenge before drawing the foul himself.

Then, at the start of the second half, Valencia leveled the game with a goal from Samuel Lino that caught their opponents off guard.

Although Valencia had a chance, Mamardashvili made five stops for Los Blancos during the course of the game.
Real Madrid kept up the pressure on Valencia's goal in extra time, but the goalkeeper was once more able to save well-executed attempts from Vinicius Junior and Toni Kroos.

Real Madrid made all four of their successful penalties in the shootout while Valencia missed two. Before Gaya's easy penalty was saved by Courtois, Comert skied his attempt over the crossbar, sending Real Madrid into the championship game.
