Luciano Spalletti was all praise for the team's cohesion after Giovanni Simeone came off the bench to help Napoli defeat Roma 2-1.
Osimhen may have scored the finest goal of his Napoli career, controlling the ball with his chest and thigh before volleying it into the goal.
No team has been 13 points in front after just 20 rounds since the introduction of three points for a win in 1994–1995
But Spalletti acknowledged that his squad had a difficult evening. “We didn’t have as much courage and quality as usual in moving the ball around tonight, so consequently that helped Roma with the high press. We also didn’t give Osimhen the right service, but he did well to find the spaces anyway.”
Spalletti, the former Inter Milan manager, then went on to congratulate Victor Osimhen, his leading scorer.
Luciano Spalletti described the Nigerian striker goal which saw him beat two Roma defenders and he powered a shot into the net.
“There is everything in that goal, technical quality, character to juggle the ball between two defenders, then he hit this rocket into the net, as he really has got a cannon for a foot,” Spalletti told DANZ via Footballitalia.
“He has physical strength, accepts the challenge, tracks back to help, he is good in the air. He is the complete package.”
