Wout Weghorst completes loan move to Manchester United

Burnley player Wout Weghorst recently signed a loan deal with Manchester United.


Burnley striker Wout Weghorst was loaned to Manchester United for the remainder of the season after his contract with Besiktas expired.

Besiktas confirmed that Weghorst's loan period had been terminated by mutual consent and that the Turkish club would receive a compensation payment of £2.5 million after Man Utd paid Burnley £2.6 million.

United will pay the striker's wages, and there is no choice or obligation to purchase.

Erik Den Hag had revealed his intention to sign a striker in the January window following the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo whose deal was terminated.

The veteran striker made 18 appearances while on loan at Besiktas, scoring nine goals and providing four assists.

He has scored five goals in 19 appearances for the Netherlands, two of which came during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Despite Man Utd's hopes that the new signing would be ready to face Man City at Old Trafford in the lunchtime kickoff on Saturday, Ten Hag confirmed prior to the game that the new signing had not been registered by the Friday midday deadline.

Weghorst, who could make his United debut on Wednesday against Crystal Palace.
