2023 Elections: Kaduna train attack hostage, Sadiq Ango wins Federal Constituency seat

With 33,616 votes, Sadiq Ango-Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), one of the released hostages from the terrorist attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train, was proclaimed the winner of the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna state.

After three months in captivity, the terrorists freed Sadiq, the son of late Hajiya Aisha, "Mama Taraba," former Minister of Women Affairs and Professor Ango Abdullahi, convener of the Northern Elder's Forum, on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

In Zaria, the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria's Returning Officer, Dr. Hashim Suleiman, announced the outcome.

Malam Garba-Datti Mohammed, a four-term representative for the area and member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), received 31,737 votes, but he declared Ango-Abdullahi the winner of the election.
