In Saturday's 4-2 victory over Aston Villa, Martin Odegaard had a terrible opportunity to make a crucial contribution to Arsenal's title-race hopes. Instead, he blew it.
The Norwegian assisted Oleksandr Zinchenko, who helped the London team tie the game at 2-2 after falling behind 2-1 in the first half.
Due to some excellent pressure from Eddie Nketiah late in the game, the visitors regained possession inside the Villa box. This was a game that needed to be won in order to keep the pressure on Manchester City as the race for the title intensifies.
Odegaard had plenty of room when the Arsenal forward turned to see him, and he finished coolly by getting around the advancing goalkeeper.
Odegaard, who has been excellent for Arsenal this season with eight goals and six assists, slid the ball wide of the uprights, falling to his knees in frustration as he realized the missed opportunity to give Arsenal the lead, which was out of character for him.
