After the earthquake in Turkey, Christian Atsu is still missing.
After last week's earthquake in Turkey, Christian Atsu's agent has confirmed that the former Newcastle and Everton winger has not yet been located. The player's shoes have been found in two pairs, but the search is still ongoing for the Ghanian who is still missing.

Concerns about Atsu's well-being have grown since the 7-point-8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey last Monday. He had reportedly been pulled from the rubble, according to conflicting reports, but his club Hatayspor has since refuted these claims.

His agent Nana Sechere has since provided a thorough update on the situation via his Twitter page, confirming that the search is still ongoing even though some of his belongings have been discovered.

Between 2013 and 2021, Atsu spent eight years on the books at Chelsea and Newcastle, but for the 2017–18 season, he was with Turkish Super Lig team Hatayspor. He spent the majority of his time on loan at teams like Everton and Bournemouth, making zero competitive appearances for the Blues.

Prior to making a permanent commitment in 2017, he initially joined the Magpies on a loan and assisted the team in winning the Championship and securing their return to the Premier League. He played for Porto and the Ghana national team, earning 65 caps overall.

On the day before the earthquake, Atsu gave Hatayspor a 1-0 victory with a goal in the 97th minute.

South-eastern Turkey and northern Syria were hit by a 7.8 earthquake on Monday morning, and a second 7.5 earthquake struck shortly after. As a result, more than 35,000 people have died. In both countries, the recovery effort is still ongoing.
