Agom-Jarigbe of the People's Democratic Party won the National Assembly elections on Saturday, defeating Ayade, who served in the Senate from 2011 to 2015. Ayade received 56,595 votes to Agom-Jarigbe's 76,145.
Around 3:05 a.m., Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe, the returning officer speaking on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission, declared the election's outcome.
Additionally, it was learned that after the returning officer's declaration of the Senator's victory, the Declaration Form could not be given to him. The electoral body in the state informed him that it had been delivered to Obudu in error, but that a temporary one would be given to him until the actual one was brought.
