Thiago Silva received a new one-year contract from Chelsea, as explained by the club's chairman Todd Boehly.
Younger players are now being signed to long-term contracts by the Blues thanks to Boehly's implementation of the policy.
It's been gathered that Chelsea have agreed to extend the contract of Silva for another season.
The team's growth under head coach Graham Potter is thought to be greatly aided by Thiago Silva's experience, though.
In Chelsea's 21 Premier League games so far this year, the Brazilian has started 18 of them.
“We’re delighted that Thiago has decided to continue with Chelsea.
“He’s a world-class talent, as he’s proven over many years for club and country, and his experience, quality and leadership skills are vital to our vision going forward.
“We’re thrilled he has extended his contract with us and we look forward to more success with him ahead,” Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said.
Meanwhile Chelsea will hope to improve their standing at the Premier League table with a win over West Ham.
The Blues who are in 9th position will face David Moyes side in the early kick off in Saturday’s afternoon.
