Jose Mourinho has admitted that he had the option to leave Roma in December.

The Portugal Coach has been linked with a return to Chelsea as manager of the West London club.
The Portuguese manager is upset with the paucity of cash available to him in the transfer market and has stated his desire to return to his previous team.

Mourinho also informed DAZN that he considered leaving the Italian team in 2022 due to a lack of resources to compete for the championship, but decided against it.

He said: 'I could've left in December and didn't, this is my life, every day there is a game.

'Sometimes it might seem as if we are struggling, but we are up there with all the others who are very strong.'

Mourinho's team spent less than £7 million on right back Zeki Celik from Lille during the summer transfer window, bringing in five players on free transfers, including Paulo Dybala, Nemanja Matic, and Andrea Belotti.

Reportminds Blog understands that Jose Mourinho wife and children remain in London.

Mourinho, who won the first Europa Conference League last season, prefers working in the Premier League to working anyplace else in the globe.

The 60-year-old added: 'There was a short period this season when I had a few doubts about Abraham. Not about his qualities as a player, but about him, he had a difficult period.

'Now, however, if he doesn't score a goal, then he still gives an important contribution. He did everything perfectly in the second half, holding the ball up, helping in defence, interacting very well with Paulo. It's a positive moment for him.'

Notwithstanding Mourinho's overtures to Chelsea, the club has stated that they would stick behind Graham Potter despite their present difficulties.

Following David Moyes' troubles, the West Ham position might become available shortly, however Mourinho would not leave Roma in the midst of the season.

His side defeated Empoli 2-0 on Saturday, with former Blues star Abraham scoring, to move into third position in Serie A, equal on points with second-placed Inter, despite having played one more game than Simone Inzaghi's side.
