Mason Greenwood, a striker for Manchester United, has issued a statement following the dismissal of all charges.
Following the dismissal of the attempted rape and assault allegations against him, Mason Greenwood expressed his "relief."
On January 3, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the criminal case against the 21-year-old had been dropped. Regarding the same woman, Greenwood was accused of attempting rape, acting in a controlling and coercive manner, and violence.
Greenwood, who joined United aged six, has been suspended by the club during the legal process. He has not played professional football for a year.
The last game he played for United was the Premier League fixture against West Ham on January 22 last year. About a week later, on January 30, Greenwood was arrested and has been suspended by United ever since.
The following day, his sponsor Nike announced it had suspended its relationship with the footballer later confirming the partnership had ended. Prosecutors charged Greenwood with the three offences about eight months later, in October.
Greenwood released a short statement, which read: "I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.
"There will be no further comment at this time."
