Arsenal handed double injury boost ahead of Leicester clash amid Thomas Partey update

Prior to the match against Leicester, Arsenal received a double injury boost amid a Thomas Partey update.
Before this weekend's Premier League match against Leicester City, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided a new update on Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus. The Gunners are two points ahead of Manchester City going into the game.

Due to the midfielder's muscle injury from earlier in the week, Arteta was unable to select Partey for the team's most recent matches against City and Aston Villa. Jesus suffered a knee injury while traveling with Brazil in Qatar and hasn't played for Arsenal since the Premier League resumed after the World Cup.

The Brazilian striker, who is expected to return in March, has found Eddie Nketiah to be a capable replacement in the lineup. Partey's absence has been filled by January acquisition Jorginho, but Arteta would benefit from the midfielder's return as Arsenal gears up for a challenging test against Leicester this weekend.

Friday morning, Arteta gave an update on the health of Partey and Jesus during his pre-Leicester press conference. The manager of the Gunners said: "He [Partey] hasn't trained much, but it looks like he could be available."

The Gunners boss then offered yet another update on Gabriel Jesus' recovery. "He’s progressing well," Arteta said.

"Doing more and more on the field, the knee is not reacting - so it’s positive. We want him back quickly but respect the timeline from the doctors."

Since completing a £45 million transfer from City during the summer transfer window, the Brazilian striker has been a huge hit at the Emirates Stadium.

Jesus' return will be a huge boost for Arsenal's Premier League title aspirations as well as for their ability to rotate players in advance of the start of the Europa League action again in a couple of weeks.
