The old N200 notes will coexist with the new N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes for 60 days, per President Buhari's directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In a broadcast to the entire country this morning, February 16, the President announced this. Additionally, he instructed the CBN to make the new notes accessible to all citizens. .
The President said in his speech that he had given the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) permission to redesign the Naira notes for the benefit of the economy because the majority of the printed notes were missing.
He also expressed regret to Nigerians for the challenges encountered in carrying out the naira redesign policy.
Additionally, he ordered the CBN to work with security and anti-corruption agents to make sure that no one undermines the efforts of the Federal government.
