Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, has instructed Chelsea to recall Romelu Lukaku from his loan at Inter Milan.
The former Premier League defender believes the Belgian can help Graham Potter's team regain their rightful place in the top flight by solving the Blues' goal-scoring issues.
In the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 matchup on Wednesday night at San Siro, Inter Milan defeated FC Porto 1-0 thanks to a goal from Lukaku.
Giuseppe Marotta, the CEO of Inter, told reporters that Lukaku was "carrying 103kg on his shoulders" and wasn't yet fully match-ready. Lukaku also scored against Udinese over the weekend, but he came off the bench against Porto.
Lukaku's weight, however, astounded Ferdinand, a former England international, who revealed that he (Ferdinand) played at 86 kilos.
“I played at 86 kilos and I’m about 96 now,” he said on BT Sport.
“If he can get back [to Chelsea] fit again, this guy has proven he is a goalscorer, simple as that.
“I think the new manager gives him a chance. I think he’s got no-one in there that he obviously trusts at the moment. This guy is just a goal machine, he just knows how to score.”
