Emerson Royal, a star for Tottenham Hotspur, has invested £800,000 of his own money to improve as a player and win over Antonio Conte, and it's beginning to pay off.
The 24-year-old helped Spurs move back into the top four of the Premier League by opening the scoring in their 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday.
Given Emerson's previous reputation in north London, the change in fortunes is remarkable. When Nuno Espirito Santo was the manager in 2021, he left Barcelona to sign a five-year contract with Spurs.
Nuno didn't occupy the hot seat at Tottenham Hotspur stadium for very long before Conte took his place later that year. Emerson was expected to perform well in the Italian coach's three-at-the-back formation.
This season, Emerson has played in 18 league games for Tottenham.
Conte initially told Emerson that he didn't think much of him for the part. In spite of the fact that Matt Doherty frequently received selections before him, he was unaffected.
The Sun claims that he has improved his overall game in a number of ways. The Brazilian international bought a hyperbaric oxygen tank so he could stay in shape at home. He uses it following games, and last year he shared a photo of himself in the tank wearing a mask on Instagram.
Emerson's father is a member of his management team and is said to have hired a neuroscientist to help his son cope with the pressure of playing in the Premier League.
Neuroscience involves observing the behavior of the brain and figuring out how it works. Most people get good results from it, and it's thought to be a field that is rapidly developing.
