According to reports, Fofana participated in team practice today in preparation for Wednesday's game.
Potter must decide whether to play more conservatively and use a back three formation or to keep establishing chemistry in the preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
If he opts for a back four, the choice could come down to Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, or Kalidou Koulibaly, who was ill and unable to play against West Ham.
The French international who joined Chelsea this season from Leicester City has struggled with injury setbacks, forcing him to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
