Recently, Ian Wright was asked if he believed Gabriel Martinelli ought to have celebrated after scoring for Arsenal against Aston Villa on Saturday.
After bursting through on an empty goal at Villa Park, Martinelli sealed a 4-2 victory for the Gunners.
The 21-year-old benefited from Emiliano Martinez moving up the field to attack a corner for Villa, and just before he put the ball into an empty net, he threw his arms up in celebration.
Wright believes the Brazilian's celebration was just a little bit of fun, despite Gabriel Agbonlahor criticizing the Brazilian for his "lack of respect" toward Villa.
The former Arsenal player discussed Martinelli's celebration at Villa Park during an interview with Kelly and Wrighty.
Despite criticism from some pundits, it's difficult to see what Martinelli did wrong because, after holding out his arms, he essentially had the ball in the back of the net.
It would have been harder for the kid to pass up the chance than it would have been to convert.
The Brazilian was understandably relieved to put the game out of reach for his team because Arsenal was coming off a rough stretch of play.
“I think that’s quite fun! What’s happening is that it’s not very often you know that you are definitely going to score,” Wright said.
“When you are running through and you know you are going to score, you get this unbelievable rush.”
