For the trip to Leicester on Saturday to commemorate the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, Premier League leaders Arsenal named Oleksandr Zinchenko as captain.

At the King Power Stadium, the Ukrainian international took over for Martin Odegaard as the Gunners' usual captain while donning an armband bearing the national colors of his country.

The 26-year-old left Manchester City, where he won four league championships in the previous five seasons, to join Arsenal last summer.

Zinchenko, who has 52 caps for his nation, has previously spoken out against the conflict there.
Just before kick off at 4pm GMT,Arsenal posted on Twitter: "Zinchenko will wear our captain's armband today, as a mark of respect and love on the first anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine".

Meanwhile the Gunners recorded 1-0 win over Leicester City at the end of 90 minutes. 

Gabriel Martinelli goal in the 46 minutes was the difference in the game as Mikel Arteta side extended there lead at the top of the Premier League table. 
Leandro Trossard thought he had scored in the first half as he started the game ahead of Eddie Nketiah. 

The 28-year-old forward goal was ruled out after VAR judged Ben White fouling Leicester goalkeeper Ward during the corner.

The Foxes best chance came after Kelechi Iheanacho put the ball in the net but to was ruled it for offside, Arsenal also had a goal disallowed as well.
