Shola Akinlade, a 38-year-old software engineer from Nigeria, purchases a Danish soccer team.
Shola Akinlade, co-founder and CEO of Paystack, a Nigerian financial technology business that provides payment processing services, has acquired the bulk of the shares in Danish soccer team Aarhus Fremad.
“I am truly honoured and excited to embark on this new chapter with Aarhus Fremad and further our shared commitment to engaging and empowering local communities,” the Paystack CEO said.
The collaboration was revealed on social media by the Danish club, and as a result of the arrangement, the club would become a sister club of Sporting Lagos Football Club, a NNL squad that Shola also created in 2022.
Under the direction of CEO and previous principal equity owner Lars Kruse, the club has been operating at a loss over the last two years despite being at the top of the 2nd Division and maybe getting promoted to the second-best league in the nation.3
Following 20 games, the squad leads the third-tier Danish league.
