Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, tackled Martin Odegaard during Saturday night's match with Norway, Arsenal supporters were outraged.
The Arsenal captain, who was playing for his country in Malaga, had a fantastic chance to start the scoring after receiving a pull-back, lowering his shoulder to avoid Dani Carvajal, and then unleashing a left-footed drive.
When Rodri stopped Odegaard's shot before it could reach the goal, the midfielder fell to the ground in pain and appeals for a penalty were made.
In Rodri's defense, the 26-year-old did seem to stumble a little before jumping in, but he still absolutely destroyed Odegaard and plowed through his standing foot.
The Arsenal player, who is obviously in a championship battle with City, instantly rolled about in pain while grabbing his ankle. He then got to his knees and yelled at the referee to award a penalty.
The referee was not sent to the monitor by VAR despite what seemed to be a blatant foul inside the area, and only a few seconds later Dani Olmo gave Spain a 1-0 lead.
