At the International Conference Centre in Abuja, the nation's capital, the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, presented the certificate to Tinubu. Kashim Shettima, his running mate, was also given a Certificate of Return.
The announcement came just a few hours after Tinubu was declared the winner of the poll that took place on Saturday, February 25. He received 8,794,726 votes, defeating his closest rival, PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar, who received 6,984,520 votes.
