Chelsea's manager, Graham Potter, gave an explanation for why Joao Felix was replaced during their 3-1 victory against Leicester City on Saturday.
First league away win for Chelsea since last October, they prevailed at the King Power Stadium.
Ben Chillwell, Kai Havertz, and Mateo Kovacic all scored goals to help the Blues secure all three points.
Although the players deserve recognition for their effort throughout the game, head coach Potter also deserves appreciation for his tactical choices.
At halftime, the former Brighton Hove Albion boss replaced Joao Felix with Conor Gallagher.
Several people have questioned the English manager's tactical choice to remove the Portuguese player from the contest.
At the post-game news conference, Potter did explain why he made the surprising decision.
According to Potter: "Tactically. I wanted to use an extra midfielder. I felt we needed someone who could ball win, a different profile and I thought Conor was fantastic."
Felix was allegedly removed from the starting lineup by Potter because he needed a third midfielder.
Since his arrival at Chelsea in the January transfer window, Joao Felix seems to be enjoying every second of his loan agreement.
Since moving from Atletico Madrid to the Blues in January, the attacker has scored one goal.
Felix has also been unfortunate since against West Ham United and Leicester City, VAR threw out two of his goals for offside.
