Granit Xhaka, a great player for Arsenal, was obviously delighted to replace Gabriel Martinelli yesterday.
What the Swiss international was doing during a pause in action against Crystal Palace was revealed in a story by The Athletic.
After another 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday, the Arsenal increased their advantage at the top of the Premier League standings.
Once again, Gabriel Martinelli gave Arsenal the lead, much to the pleasure of Granit Xhaka and the rest of the squad.
He fired past Joe Whitworth with his left foot, taking advantage of his notoriety to cut inside.
Martinelli was subsequently joined on the scoresheet by Xhaka, and Arsenal's tally was completed by a pair of goals by Bukayo Saka.
As the Brazilian was eventually replaced by Emile Smith Rowe, Xhaka expressed his satisfaction with the Brazilian's performance.
The report from The Athletic states:
‘Xhaka was particularly on point.
‘There was a moment towards the end of the game when there was a short break for substitutions and he was busy involving himself in everything.
‘He kissed Gabriel Martinelli when he was taken off.’
