Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, will make substitutions tonight against Sporting Lisbon. He might not be able to rest as many players as he had hoped.

Clearly, the Gunners' second priority will be the Europa League. For as long as they are in a title fight, they will prioritize maintaining their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal travel to Portugal to face Sporting CP in Lisbon tonight in their first leg round of 16 tie in the Europa League.

Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard, and Kieran Tierney are all unable to participate in the first leg in Lisbon, dealing Arteta a triple blow. If the trio had been available, their positions could have been rotated further.

The first leg of Arsenal's Europa League round of 16 matchup against Sporting Lisbon is this evening.

Gabriel Jesus returned to training yesterday, but it is understood that he is not yet ready to begin.

Seven players that Arteta might rest this evening are examined by Reportminds.com:

Goalkeeper: (Aaron Ramsdale for Matt Turner)
Matt Turner has been the goalkeeper for Arsenal's cup games. He participated in the FA Cup as well as four of the games during the group stage.

As a result of Ramsdale's could be rested, Arteta will keep him on the field for Premier League games which comes up this weekend. Turner has more than enough experience to demonstrate his abilities as a deputy.

Defenders: (William Saliba for Rob Holding)

William Saliba, who has started every Premier League game this season, deserves a break. Early in the campaign, he only participated in two of the group games because Rob Holding was preferred.

The only center back on the right who can replace Saliba is Holding. He will re-enter the lineup for his first start since the FA Cup defeat to Manchester City in January.

(Gabriel Magalhães for Jakub Kiwior)

Gabriel, a Brazilian who has started every league game, also needs a break. Additionally, he has played in more cup games this season than Saliba.

However, Arteta will be eager to introduce Jakub Kiwior, who was signed in January. Left-footed and most likely a direct replacement for Gabriel is the left-handed Poland international.

(Oleksandr Zinchenko for Takehiro Tomiyasu)

If Tierney was in shape, he would have replaced Zinchenko. Zinchenko might still be given a break, though, right away.

Earlier in the season, Takehiro Tomiyasu played left defender. Ben White, who was introduced against Bournemouth only at halftime, might then start at right-back.

Midfielders: (Thomas Party for Jorginho)

It has only been a short while since Partey made a full recovery from his injury; he made his debut on Saturday. Arteta doesn't have to include him in his starting lineup tonight.

Perhaps Jorginho doesn't have the same effect on the Arsenal team that Partey does. But he has more than enough ability to deliver at the required level in this tie.

(Martin Odegaard for Fabio Vieira)

Odegaard and Granit Xhaka will compete to be rested because Arsenal lacks options in the middle of the field. Xhaka only entered the game against Bournemouth in the final 10 minutes, so he'll probably start this one.

Fabio Vieira disappointed with his performance versus the Cherries. He'll probably step into Odegaard's shoes in a little bit more of a leadership capacity.

(Bukayo Saka for Reiss Nelson)

Saka has played More than any other player on the Arsenal Player and it's clear that the forward needs rest. In the last 68 league games, he has participated and started 65 of them.

It's been gathered that Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe both have a chance to start for the team.

Possible line up for Arsenal against Sporting
