Eden Hazard, a top player for Real Madrid, has acknowledged that he "didn't enjoy" representing Belgium at the World Cup in comparison to their younger, more "deserving" group of athletes.
During the tournament in Qatar, the former Chelsea player started Belgium's first two matches, which they lost in the group stage.
Despite making just three starts in all competitions this season, he has played only seven times for Los Blancos.
Hazard disclosed that he took the choice to retire after the World Cup after the 2021 European Championships in an interview with the Belgian magazine HLN.
In addition, Hazard stated that he thought a "new generation" of Belgian players deserved to participate in the World Cup more than he did.

The former Chelsea forward has Ben struggling to recreate his explosive form at Stamford Bridge since he arrived at Real Madrid.
Hazard spell with Real Madrid has been hindered with several injuries in the last few seasons.
The 32-year-old is expected to be a free agent next season and it looks like he will see out the rest of his contract with the Santiago Bernabéu outfit.
