After receiving a hostile reception from the home crowd last night, Olivier Giroud acknowledged that he enjoyed contributing to Tottenham's elimination from the Champions League.

After failing to overturn a 1-0 deficit against AC Milan in the round of 16, Tottenham's UEFA Champions League campaign came to an end.

Following gallbladder surgery, Antonio Conte made his way back to the sidelines, but on a notorious night in the club's contemporary history, home fans loudly criticized his strategy and substitutions.

Antonio Conte made sure he was back in charge for this game because however the season turned out, it would be defined by their 1-0 loss at the San Siro in the first leg.

The most notable incident in an otherwise forgettable game was Cristian Romero's reckless second yellow card and subsequent humiliation for a foul on Theo Hernandez.

With an overall score of 1-0, AC Milan defeats Tottenham to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

When Asked by Thierry Henry how much the win meant to him, Giroud told CBS Sports: ‘It means a lot for me, I received a nice warm welcome here from the fans but as an ex-Gunner it will always feel good to win there at Tottenham. ‘It was a great atmosphere and we saw the Tifosi from Milan it was amazing, it’s always great to feel that kind of night, a Champions League night. ‘At almost 37 years old I always take a lot of pleasure to enjoy this kind of night for me it was a special night. I wish I could score but as long as we go through it’s the most important thing for me.’
