Manchester United made fun of Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, by tweeting a vintage photo of Julia Roberts visiting Old Trafford.
After the Citizens' 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League Round of 16 last night, Guardiola commented on the Hollywood star's choice to forego a trip to the blue side of Manchester.
With an 8-1 aggregate victory against the German team, Pep Guardiola's team advanced to the quarterfinals of Europe's premier tournament, solidifying their position as the competition's favorite this year.
“Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester – not in the 90s when Sir Alex (Ferguson) was winning titles and titles and titles. She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, right?
“Even if I win the Champions League it will not compare to this disappointment I had.”
“And she went to visit Man United. She didn’t come to see us,” Guardiola cried out during his post-match press briefing.
Guardiola was still in a tense mood at the post-game news conference despite the victory because of the rejection he felt as a result of Roberts' refusal.
After the Spaniard's rant, Manchester United posted a humorous comment about the Beautiful Woman actress' visit to Old Trafford and noted Guardiola's displeasure on their official social media website.
“Throwing it back to when Julia Roberts visited Old Trafford,” United wrote.
