After reaching the age of 18 on February 25, Ronaldinho's son Joao Mendes formally committed to Barcelona.
After a successful trial period in January, the son of the legendary Brazilian footballer signed a contract with Barca on Thursday.
Before playing for Vasco de Gama and Boavista-RJ at the youth level, Mendes began his career at Flamengo.
He signed a six-year contract with Cruzeiro after showing his quick feet to the club's scouts in 2019. Mendes spent three years with the Brazilian team before opting to end that agreement and enter into a trial with Barca, who have since formally introduced him as an U19s player.
Mendes will aim to emulate his illustrious father, who won the Ballon d'Or, two La Liga championships, the Champions League, and the European Cup at Barcelona. The club will need to carefully manage the pressure placed on Mendes, according to Joan Laporta's warning.
