Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, has responded to Kai Havertz's missed penalty in Chelsea's 2-0 Champions League knockout win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

He also said that his team had "a little bit of luck" after the German player scored a penalty that was retaken.

The Blues advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals thanks to their 2-0 victory.

After missing with his first effort from 12 yards, Havertz scored from the spot. For handball, Marius Wolf received severe punishment.

After replays revealed that Ozcan had encroached before the kick was taken, Havertz had to take the spot kick again despite missing the first attempt.

“Not a massive amount, to be honest, I knew they’d encroached,” Potter told BT Sport.

“We got a little bit of luck there.”

If you recall that Potter confirmed Kai Havertz as Chelsea's new penalty taker after Jorginho moved to Arsenal in January transfer.

The 31-year-old midfielder was the penalty taker for the Blues until his move to the Emirates stadium.

Potter went on to explain why he let Havertz take the crucial penalty once more after he missed the first one.

“It was him or Reece, to be honest…

“Obviously, we’ve got confidence in Kai, even though he missed one.”

Chelsea will return to the Premier League this weekend when they face Leicester City and hope to take their form to the game.

The Blues who are struggling in the league currently occupy the 10th place.
