Reece James and Mason Mount will likely be sidelined for the remainder of the season, according to Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
The Blues boss was speaking before of Wednesday's game against Brentford as his team looks for its first victory since his hiring earlier this month.
Lampard has had a difficult start to his tenure as Chelsea's interim manager, having lost his first four games in charge four times.
Since suffering a hamstring injury against Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal matchup last week, James has remained sidelined.
While his fellow countryman Mount will miss the whole season after having surgery for a persistent stomach problem.
'Reece James unavailable. Probably for the season. Mason Mount probably the same. Potential for the last game but probably not. Kai [Havertz] won't be available tomorrow,' Lampard said ahead of Brentford game.
He got the procedure on Tuesday, and the Athletic reports that he would probably be out for three to four weeks.
In time for their season finale against high-flying Newcastle on May 28, which they host, Lampard said that Mount could be able to play again.
Mason Mount future at Chelsea
Mount's future in west London is still in doubt, as recent rumors have suggested that the England international might leave Stamford Bridge.
Mount, who has been a member of the Blues since he was six years old, has yet to renew his contract with the organization before it expires in the summer of 2024.
Arsenal and Liverpool, two rivals in the Premier League, are reportedly both interested in acquiring the 24-year-old during the summer transfer window.
Who will become Chelsea's next manager?
Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, the team's co-controlling owners, are looking for a long-term replacement for Graham Potter, who was fired on April 2 after only 31 games.
After a three-week search, it is thought that former Tottenham manager Pochettino is the front-runner.
Pochettino spent Monday in negotiations that had proceeded to an advanced level. Pochettino has been jobless since being fired by Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
