Frank Lampard reveals the only position left for Aubameyang to play in Chelsea team

The only way for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to get back into the starting lineup for the Chelsea Blues is to prepare effectively for games, according to interim manager Frank Lampard.

In addition, Lampard did not completely rule out the possibility of the former Arsenal player joining the squad for Saturday's game against Brighton.

This season, Chelsea has struggled mightily to score goals, and Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Real Madrid was no exception.

For the first time since December 1993, the Blues have gone four games without scoring in all competitions.

Lampard has always been a great admirer of Aubameyang and tried to recruit him during his first tenure as head coach. Chelsea is in desperate need of a striker.

The 33-year-old was cut off by Potter and seldom played for his last manager, but with Lampard, Aubameyang has a fresh start.

When asked what Aubameyang may play, Lampard said, "We’ll see on that one. I don’t want to go position-specific.

“What I do want to say is that the players have to feel that when they train and prepare, that the competitive nature we have in the squad to get in the team needs to be high in every position.

“Auba is a bit like everybody in the squad, whether you’ve been starting before or not starting so much, you have to compete in training and show that you’re worthy of a place.

“And of course his history says he has a fantastic goalscoring record. So we’ll see.”
