Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has sided with Sadio Mane after the controversy of him reportedly hitting fellow colleague Leroy Sane during their 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.
When they entered the changing room, everything had already gotten heated on the field and Mane had punched the German international in the face.
Sane reportedly discussed with the Bayern board keeping the ex-Liverpool forward's contract intact, and the case has since been closed.
The Senegalese is prepared to pay the price, however, as the Bavarian hierarchy has suspended him for one game and ordered him to sit out the team's match against Hoffenheim.
Even though Tuchel was aware that the dispute had been resolved, he praised Mane for being "professional."
Tuchel announced during his news conference on Friday that, “I am his first lawyer and his first defender. I’ve known him for so long and I know his entourage.
“He has my full support. He had that before and he still has it after this mistake that he has made. Everyone has the right to make a mistake."
Thomas Tuchel has also stated that Sadio Mane has been banned for one game and fined.
The 31-year-old Senegal international will miss Bayern Munich's match against Hoffenheim this weekend, but he is anticipated to play Man City in the second leg the following week.
The former Chelsea manager acknowledged that the manner the two players resolved the dispute was advantageous for the group.
“It’s settled. A game and a fine are the consequences of what happened”,he added. “The way both players involved dealt with it, the way the other players dealt with it, it had a cleansing effect.
“We had a positive atmosphere yesterday and today".
