Given that Mount's contract is slated to expire at the conclusion of the next season, his future at the west London club is becoming more and more hazy.
Lampard clarified his position on the contract controversy in a statement before to Chelsea's Premier League match against Brentford on Wednesday night.
At his pre-game news conference, Lampard was questioned about if there was a way to resolve the standoff between Chelsea and Mount. He responded to the media by saying:
“Yes, but at this point, it is not my opinion that will be the resolution.
“It will be the opinion of the club and the opinion of Mason, so that is between them. I think my opinion’s pretty clear, I don’t need to spell out what I think of Mason as a player, but he is not my one to get into, that is between them.”
