Lamine Yamal, a wonderkid for Barcelona, made history by playing an 11-minute cameo against Real Betis in the home team's rout of the Andalusian club at Camp Nou.

With his appearance, the 15-year-old became the youngest player to don the Barcelona jersey in over a century.

In Xavi's team's encounter against Atletico Madrid last weekend, Yamal, a product of Barcelona's renowned La Masia program, was initially included to the matchday squad. However, he had to wait until his second inclusion to see playing minutes.

After the final whistle, his manager praised the player and singled him out for praise, calling him a "special" talent.

Only Armand Martinez Sagi, who signed for Barcelona at the age of 14 in 1920, can match Yamal's historic debut.

Although Yamal did not score in the Catalan club's carefree 4-0 rout of a Betis team with 10 men, there are rumblings at Camp Nou that suggest he is destined for greatness.

The gifted adolescent is already handled by super-agent Jorge Mendes and has been touted as the best academy product since one Lionel Messi.

The left-footed center striker has also previously represented Spain's under-15 and under-19 teams.
