Leroy Sane begged Bayern Munich not to terminate Sadio Mane contract after dressing room brawl

Following their altercation in the locker room on Tuesday night, Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich allegedly requested that teammate Sadio Mane not be fired by club management.

Following his team's 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal at the Etihad, Mane struck a teammate in the face.

After he and Sane had a meeting with Bayern management, the club on Thursday handed the former Liverpool winger a provisional ban.

There were concerns that Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamid might fire Mane for his behavior, but it seems that teammate Sane may have saved his career in Germany.

Sane requested that Mane's contract not be terminated and that the winger not get a "severe punishment," according to BILD.

Sane and Mane reportedly attended a meeting with the club's executives on Thursday morning, which is likely when he voiced his sentiments to Bayern officials, according to a separate story from the same German publication.

Soon later, both players were seen participating in the team's practice and were spotted running meters apart.

Hours after those images surfaced, the team made a statement on its website announcing their decision to suspend the forward.

'Sadio Mané , 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday.

'The reason is misconduct by Mane after FC Bayern's Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine.'

Following Bayern's 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal, the two Bayern players got into a fight.

As they walked off the field at the Etihad Stadium, Sane and Mane were spotted arguing, and the argument escalated as they descended the tunnel.
Mane attacked the German as the altercation carried into the changing room, leaving him with a bleeding lip, and then the two were hauled apart.

Sane was careful to keep his lip hidden from the cameras as the Bayern team touched down in Munich after the game.

Germany will be hoping that the two can put the incident behind them and move on before the second leg at the Allianz Arena on next Wednesday.

On the night, Bayern went down to Rodri's breathtaking first-half goal before Bernardo Silva doubled City's advantage thanks to Dayot Upamecano's error.

On April 19, in the Allianz Arena, the hosts scored a third goal, giving Bayern a mountain to climb in the return match.

Mane, who had a rocky first season after signing from Liverpool for £35 million last summer, was introduced in the 69th minute of the loss.

In his 32 appearances for the German powerhouses, the 31-year-old has 11 goals to his credit.
