On Monday, Lisandro Martinez, a defender for Manchester United, had successful surgery for a fractured metatarsal.

In his right foot, the World Cup winner suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture during last week's Europa League match against Sevilla.

Martinez has reportedly been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign since the ailment typically takes six to eight weeks to recover.

Following his transfer from Ajax, Martinez has been one of United's standout players this year.

Rafael Varane also sustained an injury during the Europa League match against Sevilla, dealing a double blow to Manchester United.

The French defender is also anticipated to miss the remainder of the campaign.

Their primary center backs, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, have been reinstated, but the team is aggressively looking to sign a new defender for the summer.
