Emerson Royal's father from Tottenham has said that a team like Real Madrid would be a "better fit" for his son.
Since joining Spurs from Barcelona for £25.8 million in 2021, Royal has failed to maintain a consistent starting position and is now out with a knee injury sustained while representing Brazil at an international level.
Spurs signed Pedro Porro in January to fill Royal's right wingback position, casting uncertainty on the club's plans for the future.
The 24-year-old's father has now said that his son would be better off playing abroad, and he is planning a significant summer transfer the defence.
Emerson Zulu, the player's agent who spoke on the Charla Podcast, said: 'There is a great possibility that Emerson will leave Tottenham.
'We believe it's time for him to take a bigger leap and to go to a team that fights for titles. I think he fits a giant like Real Madrid.'
Royal played his final game under Antonio Conte and missed the whole of Cristian Stellini's tenure due to a knee injury. Since joining Spurs from La Liga, Royal has played 73 times, scoring 3 goals, but has not been able to persuade fans that he is a long-term viable option.
He last appeared for the team in Antonio Conte's penultimate match as manager, a 3-3 draw with Southampton last month. Since then, he has been out with an injury for the whole of Cristian Stellini's interim managerial tenure.
