Nicolas Pepe, an Arsenal loanee, has expressed his disagreement with Mikel Arteta's decision to bench him, saying he might have been a key member of the Gunners' lineup if he hadn't been on loan.

The Ivory Coast international winger also acknowledged that he and Mikel Arteta, the manager of the Arsenal, had a falling out over Arteta's mistrust of his skills and what he might have contributed to the team.

Unai Emery, the former manager of Arsenal, acquired Nicolas Pepe from Lille in 2019 for a club-record £ 72 million.

Nevertheless, he was unable to establish himself at the club from the United Arab Emirates, and three years later he is back in Ligue 1 on loan at Nice.

Last year, after Arsenal had won their first three league games without Pepe playing a single minute, Pepe subsequently joined Nice on a season-long loan.

With six goals in only 19 games for Nice, the 27-year-old Ivory Coast player had a strong start in France.

Pepe feels he might have been a key player for the Gunners in their pursuit of the Premier League championship, and has now questioned Mikel Arteta's decision as to his future at Arsenal.

The Ivorian said he would want to see his friends again at the Emirate Stadium.

Pepe asserted that he can assist the London team reach its goals and that he is 100 percent viable.

Pepe remarked during a news conference that: “I’m very happy at Nice, there are still two important months for the club.”

“I want to focus on the last two months and the rest, I don’t know. There will be discussions. I don’t know what Arsenal wants to do.”

“I still have a lot of friends there. I could have been important for this club, but it’s the manager’s choice.”

“I spent my time taking good care of myself and working. Today, yes, I am at 100% of my means even if it will take me a little time to find the pace.”
