"Not the way I imagined what's been a very special season would end" - Lisandro Martinez pens emotional message after season ending injury

 

Manchester United defender, Lisandro Martinez sustained a metatarsal injury and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Lisandro Martinez has acknowledged the early conclusion of his "special" debut season at Manchester United.

The World Cup champion, who switched from Ajax in the summer, has already had an effect at Old Trafford. 

Martinez, though, may now need time off after sustaining a metatarsal injury against Sevilla in the Europa League.

The Manchester United defender finally spoke out about the injury by posting an upsetting message on his social media account: "Not the way I imagined what's been a very special season would end, but sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger and we learn from them. 

On Sunday evening, United will play Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. 

Although United can benefit from Saturday's loss to Aston Villa by Newcastle United. 

He added: "I know that I'll be back soon to go for more. In the meantime, I'll continue to support my team-mates to achieve our objectives. The messages & support I've received has been amazing, they're giving me strength and encouragement. Thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart"
