Phil Foden's return to training ahead of Manchester City's match against Bayern Munich has given the team encouragement.

After having appendix surgery last month, Phil Foden has rejoined Manchester City's training program.
After being diagnosed with appendicitis during the last international break, the 22-year-old had surgery and was predicted to miss up to four weeks of action.

He returned a day early and now seems to be in the running to play some part in City's Champions League quarterfinal second leg matchup against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

For Pep Guardiola, whose team is still in the running for three major championships this year, Foden's comeback is a welcome one.

As City go to Germany with a 3-0 advantage from the first leg last week, he now has a completely healthy team to pick from for the journey to Munich.

Foden has played a significant role in City's squad in previous years, but it will be difficult for him to reintegrate into a club that is now on a roll after winning 10 straight games.

While Jack Grealish is in the finest form of his City career and is one of the first names on Guardiola's teamsheet, Bernardo Silva scored against Bayern at the Etihad Stadium.
The fact that Foden is once again a viable option is good news for City, who may still have 14 games to play before the season is over.

On Saturday, they play Sheffield United in the FA Cup semifinals. The crucial top-of-the-table matchup with Arsenal is the following Wednesday.

In Foden's absence, City has cut the distance on the Gunners, and with a game remaining, they are currently just four points behind Mikel Arteta's group.

If City defeats Arsenal, the championship will remain in their hands as they pursue their fifth league title in six years.
