FORMER Arjen Robben, a winger for Chelsea, finished the Rotterdam Marathon on Sunday in less than three hours.
The 39-year-old, who announced his retirement from football in 2021, crossed the finish line in 2:58:33 on the way home to meet his target of under three hours.

He finished the Rotterdam Marathon in 2023 in 2 hours, 58 minutes.
In the same race in 2022, Robben, who also played for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, finished in 3:13:40.
But it was his 2023 performance that had him giddy by the time the race was over.

After one season with Groningen after a standout career with some of Europe's greatest teams, Robben retired from football two years ago.

Before joining Chelsea and winning two Premier League championships, an FA Cup, and two League Cups under Jose Mourinho, he won the Eredivisie with PSV in 2003.

The Dutchman later joined with Real Madrid in 2007, where he played for two seasons and won one LaLiga championship.

However, he spent the most of his career in Germany, where he spent ten years playing for Bayern Munich.

Robben won the Champions League, five DFB Pokals, and eight Bundesliga championships.

In 96 appearances for the Netherlands, he also scored 37 goals.

He was a key contributor to Bert van Marwijk's team making it to the 2010 World Cup final, where they lost to Spain 1-0.
