Leandro Trossard, who joined Arsenal in the January transfer window, has been a fantastic addition to Mikel Arteta's team. After joining Arsenal for £27 million from Brighton, the Belgian attacker has already contributed to eight goals in only 13 games.
Prior to Chelsea hijacking the deal and signing the Ukrainian winger before the Premier League leaders, Arsenal had prioritized a move for Mykhailo Mudryk in January. As a result, the Gunners were compelled to shift their focus and negotiate a significantly lower transfer price for Trossard than they were ready to pay for Mudryk.
Trossard, a Belgian international who is still excelling at the Emirates Stadium, has shown to be the superior acquisition of the two players. In Saturday's 4-1 victory against Leeds, the 27-year-old picked up yet another assist, helping Arsenal keep an eight-point advantage at the top of the standings.
Arteta could not be happier with the Belgian's arrival at Arsenal despite the fact that he was not a top priority acquisition in January as he continues to assist them in their pursuit of a first Premier League championship in almost 20 years. When questioned about Trossard's importance for the league leaders after yet another impressive performance for the Gunners, Arteta had an astounding five-word reaction.
The Arsenal manager was questioned about if he ever imagined Trossard would perform this well for the Gunners. Arteta responded with an excellent reaction.
Arteta said: "I have very wild dreams!
"No seriously, we knew about his quality and what he could bring to the team. He can play, right left, he can play as a midfielder he can be a false nine.
"He’s really contributing to the team. He’s taking responsibility to make that happen and we love him."
